Know New Jersey's tint rules
What's legal on your car
- Rear side windows and rear window: any darkness is allowed. If the rear window is tinted, the car needs dual side mirrors.
- Front side windows and windshield: New Jersey does not allow add-on tint here. An exception exists with a medical exemption certificate from the NJ Motor Vehicle Commission.
- Reflective or mirrored film: not allowed on any window.
Rules can change. Confirm current requirements with the NJ MVC, and ask us before you book if you're not sure what applies to your car.
